At least, this is how the enchanting Tuscan capital appears – it continues to enchant, by means of its artistic masterpieces that evoke the pomp and circumstance that it bore as the leading city that developed the art and culture dictums of the Renaissance.
The historic centre of Florence contains such a wealth of masterpieces that it is difficult to separate the city from its art works.
In 1982 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Extraordinarily beautiful churches, museums and art collections, historical gardens, squares, streets, ancient palaces in which they are harmoniously activities of prestige for quality shopping.
For top-of-the-range products the place to start is Via Tornabuoni, once the city's refined salotto buono, where you can find all the big designer names and top-class jewellers. Chic purchases can also be made in nearby Via della Vigna Nuova.
Florence is also famous for the manufacturing of leather goods: bags, shoes, clothing items. The leather shops are mainly clustered in the Santa Croce area.
